Rheumatic aches:

let’s counteract them with thermal mud

Rheumatic aches » The mud »   The treatment »   Thermal water »

Joint ache appeared at a certain point in our lives, which hinders moving as best we can and which sometimes stops us from sleeping at night; which interferes with our daily lives, also impacting on family life and on our work.

“Rheumatism” is not a new disease as it is said to be as ancient as humankind and linked to the very history of humanity.

Rheumatic diseases (generally called “rheumatism, arthritis, bone aches”) include many conditions that involve the joints, the extra-articular tissues (tendons, sheaths, muscles) and the supporting connective tissue and are very different as for causes and symptoms and mostly have a chronic progression course and for this very reason can result in disability.

Despite it being difficult to demonstrate the long-term efficacy of mud-bath therapy with scientifically accepted methods, the beneficial effects of thermal treatment in patients suffering from arthrosis are documented by time-old experience.

In recent years numerous studies have been carried out in the Euganean Thermal Basin that have allowed the collection of documentation on the favourable effects of a full course of mud therapy and baths in groups of patients suffering from degenerative joint diseases.

In the first 6 months, those immediately after the course of thermal treatment, the extent of the joint ache and of the consequent functional disability in patients who underwent mud-bath therapy proved significantly reduced in comparison with clinic check-ups.

Mud-bath therapy can be considered a valid support to traditional pharmacological therapy.

Do you know why our mud is good for you?

The following is a brief list of the main therapeutic and physiological benefits of a cycle of aged mud and thermal water treatments at our hotel:

Pain relief action: mud stimulates the production of endorphins, natural painkillers that raise the pain threshold

Anti-inflammatory action: mud stimulates the production of cortisole, the natural “cortisone”, which slows down symptoms becoming acute again

Aids the immune system: mud makes our organism more resistant to infections by activating natural defences

Stimulates the metabolism: the temperature of the mud and the treatment protocol cause vasodilatation and stimulate organism renewal

Stimulates cartilage reconstitution: repeated cycles of mud therapy lead to self-healing processes in the organism

Detox action: the sweating brought on by applying warm mud purifies the body

Skin purifying action: the application of thermal mud to the skin acts as a light scrub

Preventive action: mud therapy prevents bone and joint disorders and many problems tied to incorrect lifestyles and postures

Anti-stress action: stimulating endorphins and immune defences, as well as the considerable decrease in pain, balance both the body and mind.
